Judicial corruption must be addressed in the state of New Mexico. With the indictment of district judge Michael Murphy, it has come to light that many in the states judicial system have been aware of judge Murphy’s bragging and failed to report the potential wrong doing. It is time to return honor and integrity to the New Mexico bench.
Proverbs 17:23 says “A wicked man accepts a bribe behind the back To pervert the ways of justice.” And in fact justice has been perverted, the implications are enormous. When a judge can be corrupted once, he or she can be corrupted again. When judges ignore wrong doing by their peers it allows corrupting to flourish, allowing for the perversion of justice to continue unchecked.
