Investors in the internet giant, Facebook, have lost as much as 18% of their investment since the initial public offering almost two weeks ago. There are lawsuits and investigations being called for as blame is sought in the loss of over $40 billion. We have in the Facebook IPO, a microcosm of what is happening in America overall. Misplaced faith and an appearance of wrongdoing, seem to have ruined an otherwise good investment.
The bible describes faith as the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen. In these difficult days of economic turmoil, people are looking for hope. Facebook would have provided investors with a solid company to buy, but the stock was overvalued and overpriced and the market made the correction. Our faith should be placed in the true hope of Jesus Christ where the investment in the kingdom pays big dividends in eternity.
