Wednesday evening at sunset marks the 1st of Tishri on the Hebrew calendar and the biblical holy day of Yom Teruah or the day of trumpets also known as Rosh Hashanah or the head of the year. It is on this day that Israel would anoint their king. It will be on this day when, I believe that Jesus will be anointed King of Kings. But this is also a day of personal judgment that leads to a time of judgment for the nations.
1 Corinthians tells us that if we are unwilling to judge ourselves, God Himself will judge us. We must ask on a regular basis this question, Is Jesus King of my life? Have I been living as He has asked me in His Word? This season is referred to as the High Holy Days, It is a time when the Lord examines how we have spent the last year. The next ten days are a time to reflect and ask God for mercy and forgiveness. Are our lamps trimmed and ready for the coming of the King?
